Glossary
Akasha: The purest form of “energy” out there, the elements are said to be derived from the Akasha.
Akashic Realm: The highest magickal realm in the universe
Aetherical Realm: The realm that is right below the Akashic realm but above the physical realm.
Catholics: All embracing, whole.
ChM: short term for Chaos Magick.
Chthonic: pertains to, deities or spirits of the underworld, especially in relation to Greek religion.
Constructs: are magickal programs created with magickal energy, form or no form is up to the discretion of the practitioner.
Curses: These types of spells to me are the “longer lasting” types of spells, one that can kill or can spread down to family line.
Direct Magick: a style of magick that disregards the use of physical material to affect the microcosm.
Egregore: Collective consciousness.
Elements: as described in Hermetics; the world is made of Earth, Fire, Water, Air & Akasha and with as mages, we control and shape these elements to affect the world around us.
Energy: Magickal energy, not to be confused with scientific energy. I tend to believe it as the stuff beyond scientific energy.
Entities: is how I describe beings or constructs that has some semblance of intelligence.
Evocation: Summoning an entity, externally, to do your bidding.
Fluids, Electric: In an elemental POV, this means the active parts of the elements.
Fluids, Magnetic: In an elemental POV, this means the passive parts of the elements.
Familiars: Servant entities.
Hexes: I normally tend to think of these as attack spells that doesn’t have the same “kill” factor as curses. Could range from breakup spells to confusions spells. I find that they tend to be “one-hitters”, if I had to classify it in such a way.
High Magick (aka Theurgy): using magick for spiritual advancement.
Invocation: Channel an entity inwards your consciousness
Jinxes: I feel are types of magick are entropic by nature, they tend to break down aspects of life (for example, luck).
Left Hand Path:
Low Magick (aka Thaumaturgy): essentially using magick to get practical/microcosmic results.
Offerings: a technique from Buddhism where a practitioner offers certain things to appease and/or trade with an entity to fulfill your desire or to affect a change you wanted.
Patron: entities the practitioner has a strong attachment to.
Petition Papers: a technique from Hoodoo where the papers are used to write your intent, in a certain way, to be used in a working.
Servitors: Artificially created entities/constructs.
Sigils: is a technique that is associated w/ ChM. You develop a pictograph or a mantra from your SOI and that will be utilized for your workings.
SOI: statement of intent.
Sorcerer: A type of mage that will use any type of tech and any type of materia to affect the microcosm.
Spiritual Guides: Entities that guide and teach.
TAZ: Temporary Autonomous Zone – I think this was a chaos magick term but it basically defines creating a magickal field.
Thaumaturgy: is affecting the microcosm with magickal techniques.
Theurgy: is the practice of spiritual advancement/refinement.
True Will:
Vital Force: aka Chi, Mana, natural energy that is around us and within us.
Workings: Spellwork, Ritual – the word I describe the magick when affecting the microcosm.
