the thing is, i managed to get on “top” and still do what i loved to do. the whole post is basically me thinking “out loud” if i want to be proactive or reactive.

2. i already do 90% of that naturally, lol. just today, one of my bosses asked me if i was running for president since i was socializing w/ the other workers.

right now, my boss is looking ok…..for all of his good sides, he does have bad ones that doesn’t really affect me but affects our department as a whole which in turn does affect me, lol.

You said you can be on the top of the ladder just like you were before (so, you were there before). And you also said that you aren’t sure that you want to be there. That’s your question…

I believe you should ponder about the why you haven’t been on the top for some time. A good question is “Is that a big top?”. Or are there more interesting mountains you can climb? If so, is it so interesting to see things clearly around short-sighted people?

Perhaps a good path would be do not help your boss and also do not try to replace him, but to quit and find your own path. If you follow a new path there is no conflict of any kind. In this case the point wouldn’t be of making a little adjust but of changing the whole structure.
